In and Around New Holland

Palermo Pizza & Italian Restaurant

351 West Main Street, New Holland, PA; 1 minute drive or 3 minute walk

You can't get much closer than Palermo which is in the next block over. They have pizza, pasta, and...pasta pizzas? Their special rigatoni pizza is like having a complete pasta dish as a pizza topping! Palermo also has carry out beer and hard ciders.

Lickity Split 

209 East Main Street, New Holland, PA; 1 minute drive or 10 minute walk

Right in the downtown of New Holland, Lickity Split is a great choice whether you Offering a variety of sandwiches, salads, and wraps for lunch and dinner with daily and weekly specials (including some gluten-free and vegetarian/vegan-friendly options). And don't forget their ice cream and desserts! On a nice day, it's a comfortable 10-12 minute walk from the B&B or there's off-street parking behind the building. While you're downtown, check out the vintage and antique shops or take a tour of the New Holland Area Historical Society Museum to learn more about the area. [Closed Sundays]

Yoder's Restaurant and Buffet

14 South Tower Road, New Holland, PA; 5 minute drive

Not just a buffet, they also have menu dining. [Sundays are brunch only]

Dutch Country Soft Pretzels

2758-1 Division Highway, New Holland, PA; 6 minute drive

Not just standard soft pretzels: You can find everything from pretzel pizzas and sandwiches to pretzel bites and dessert pretzels. Pretzels. They have a few tables so you can eat your pretzels there, or take them with you on a drive through the countryside. [Closed Sundays]

Fireside Café

158 Toddy Drive, East Earl, PA; 7 minute drive

Counter service or order ahead with lighter fare served on a series of outdoor rooms and patios that double as displays for Keystone Custom Decks. [Closed Sundays]


Lapp Valley Farm (Ice Cream)

244 Mentzer Road, New Holland, PA; 7 minute drive

Enjoy rich, locally made ice cream at this local farm. You can pick something up at their drive-through window, or stay and visit with the cows! [Closed Sundays]

Achenbach's Pastry

75 East Main Street, Leola, PA; 7 minute drive

The "Home of the Long John," this bakery has a wide variety of donuts and other sweet treats. [Closed Sundays]

Emma's Gourmet Popcorn comes in dozens of flavors and several sizes. They also have the supplies to pop your own: popcorn, salt, and butter-flavored coconut oil.

Hayloft Ice Cream

95 South Groffdale Road, Leola, PA; 7 minute drive

A nearby snack, Hayloft has ice cream, pretzels, and pulled pork sandwiches. There's a small duck pond, and May through October you can cross the street to peruse the Stoltzfus Produce & Market Fare which also sells chicken BBQ on summer Saturdays. [Closed Sundays]

Emma's Gourmet Popcorn

261 Hill Road, New Holland, PA; 9 minute drive

The popcorn at Emma's is a category all its own with flavors like Maple Pecan, Cucumber Dill, Blueberry, White Cheddar Jalapeño, and Chocolate Almond Bliss (just to name a few), there's surely a variety for you. And the short drive from the Country Hearth B&B will take you by beautiful views of the countryside. In the fall and winter, you will be treated to an overlook of the town and surrounding farmland from your parking spot at Emma's Gourmet Popcorn. [Closed Sundays]

Funck's

265 West Main Street, Leola, PA; 10 minute drive

We enjoyed these caramel-drizzled soft pretzel bites with ice cream on a sunny afternoon trip to Funck's Restaurant and Bar in Leola.

Solid American fare with more than 100 beers on tap and plenty of outdoor seating.

 


Shady Maple Smorgasbord

129 Toddy Drive, East Earl, PA; 10 minute drive

The Shady Maple Smorgasbord advertises that they have "200 feet of food," and they do! This 110,000 square foot facility has seating for 1,200 people (and before/after your meal, you can explore 44,000 square feet of gift shop under the dining area and the 130,000 square foot grocery store/farm market next door). They close on Sundays, but any other day there will surely be a crowd at Shady Maple. [Closed Sundays]

Sunnyside Pastries

421 Weaverland Road, East Earl, PA; 10 minute drive

Tucked away off the main road, Sunnyside Pastries has an unassuming curbside appearance. But this small Amish-owned shop has a strong assortment of doughnuts, pies, and other treats. Great prices, and generously sized pastries make this a great place to add to your vacation itinerary. [Closed Sundays and Mondays]

Ephrata

Three Sisters Park

119 East Main Street, Ephrata, PA; 14 minute drive

Offering Khmer-Thai cuisine. [Sundays are dinner-only]

Strasburg / Ronks

This strawberry salad with mango vinaigrette and a plate of sweet potato fries was a delicious and filling meal at Katie's Kitchen in Ronks. But I still went for an apple dumpling for dessert!

Fireside Tavern

1500 Historic Drive, Strasburg, PA; 23 minute drive

American fare that includes gluten-free and vegetarian friendly options. Eat indoors or take advantage of their outdoor seating under a sprawling tree. Located near the Sight and Sound and Magic & Wonder theaters. [Closed Sundays and Mondays]

Katie's Kitchen

200 Hartman Bridge Road, Ronks, PA; 24 minute drive

Booth seating and a lunch counter that offers views into the kitchen. You'll find a mix of American fare and regional specialties. Many plates come with a dinner roll and "Amish peanut butter spread" (an extra-sweet, smooth PB). They also serve a wide variety of desserts including apple dumplings with ice cream, whoopie pies, and more. There are dinner specials on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and rotating weekend dinner specials each month. [Closed Sundays]

Appalachian Brewing Company's buns are branded for an extra special touch.
