The fall is a wonderful time to plan a trip to Country Hearth B&B and enjoy some of the unique fall activities in New Holland and throughout Lancaster County, PA. In October, nearly every roadside stand is bursting at the seams with pumpkins, gourds, and butternut squash for sale. Plus, when the nights start to get chilly you'll be able to enjoy the fireplaces throughout the inn!
Things to Do
Looking for something to eat? Here are some of the spots closer to home, listed by travel time. This isn't an exhaustive list, and we'll be adding to it over time. Is your favorite place missing? Let us know!
We are surrounded with beautiful and varied scenery including rolling hills and cultivated farmland. A short walk from the Country Hearth in several directions will lead you to the edge of a field. Just over a mile east is the New Holland Park which hosts live entertainment throughout the summer including a craft show in June, an Independence Day celebration in July, an antique car show and a BBQ competition, as well as music most Wednesdays and weekends.
Many visitors to Lancaster County come here because it's "Amish Country" (or Pennsylvania Dutch Country). With many Amish and Mennonite families in our community, it's inevitable that you'll come across a few during your stay. You'll see (and hear!) their carriages and buggies pass by the bed and breakfast. You'll shop beside an Amish family at a thrift store or quilt shop. Maybe you'll visit the New Holland Sales Stables (just a 10 minute walk away at 101 West Fulton Street) and watch local farmers buy and sell livestock.
But if you're looking for a dedicated experience, there are several options all within a short drive and mostly centered around the town of Intercourse, PA (10 minutes south).
Country Hearth B&B is itself a board game and card game destination. We have more than 200 board games available for you to play during your stay as well as standard bridge, pinochle and poker decks for guests who prefer a game of cards. You can play in one of our common rooms or take them up to your room.
If you're looking to buy games or participate in a gaming event, the area gaming stores are can't-miss.
